Pulse-Based Polarity Randomization for Ultra Wideband Impulse Radio Systems

Time Hopping (TH) is commonly used for Ultra Wideband Impulse Radio (UWB-IR) systems as a multiple access scheme. Such system suffers from the existence of spectral lines, which in turn require a power back-off of the total signal. Recently, Pulse-based polarity randomization for UWB IR system was proposed. The use of polarity codes can provide additional robustness against the Multiple Access Interference (MAI) and help optimize the spectral shape according to FCC specifications by eliminating the spectral lines. In this paper, we analyze the performance of pulse-based polarity Randomization TH-UWB-IR system for AWGN and for Multipath Environment.
